GOT NATURE?

Happy Friday!

My little cottage is being tented for termites this week so I am at a (super awesome, gorgeous) friends’ with my pack of ‘wild’ animals. Between planning for El Camino de Santiago and now prepping for the tenting, I am exhausted. If you know me well, you would know I removed literally EVERYTHING but the furniture from my tiny house before they brought in the gas. Yes, I know clothes, toiletries, etc. are considered ok for the lethal fumes but I am a bit of a freak on these matters…. Anyway, tenting is a necessary evil in Florida if you want your house to remain standing.

During this busy time, I am reminded how important nature – sun, air, sea, grass, dirt – is to me and my overall health. I tend to spend a lot of time in the house doing a combination of working and puttering but these past few weeks have been dedicated to training for El Camino and getting ready for the tenting. I have been either trekking in Miami Beach or walking around the yard barefoot as we cleared the area for the tent. It’s felt great. My mom used to send us outside anytime of year in any kind of weather and I am grateful for that. Those experiences helped me to appreciate nature and all its beauty and healing benefits.

So here I am feeling lucky not only to have a beautiful place to stay but also to write this post (see photo right). I am currently enjoying the breeze in a screened in porch complete with pool and canal view. I may even be enjoying a glass of rosé. Why not?

I had wanted to write about skin cancer this week since I was just diagnosed with two basal cell carcinomas (don’t worry, I’m not worried in the least), but I have not had the time to complete the necessary research. That said, this week’s post will be more visual with some of my favorite nature pictures and quotes to express how thankful I am to have grown up where I did and to be living where I am now. I hope you enjoy. P.S. my current state of happiness has nothing to do with the rosé – I just poured the glass. Have a fantastic weekend! xo Susie

My parent’s house in the summer. My mom is a skilled gardener!

My niece Emily and I saved a bee floating out in the ocean last summer at Cape Cod. There is nothing like the sea at the Cape. It’s one of my all-time favorite places to bee 😉

Every corner of my friends’ house where I am staying this week is like a page in Coastal Living Magazine. #grateful

Sunset at the Mauian Hotel on Napili Bay in Maui, Hawaii. My parents have been going to this same little hotel for over 20 years. I have been fortunate enough to go 4 times. The hotel is more like a special inn. There are no phones or tvs and you all have buckets of water outside your door to wash the sand off your feet. The sunsets at the Mauian are like no other.

P.P.S. I love the Anne Frank quote at the beginning of this post. Although I am not very religious, I most certainly believe in a higher power and that nature heals even the most serious maladies. Easy, right? If you need help, I’m here!
